I think there comes a stage in our lives when we simply have to go away by ourselves and sit on a rock and ask – who am I? what am I here for? Psychologists call this introspection, I call it self discovery. It is a process and fearfully, it may never end. It sounds crazy but a number of people are actually aliens to themselves.
To find out what is truly individual in ourselves, profound reflection is needed; and suddenly we realize how uncommonly difficult the discovery of individuality is.”
― C.G. Jung
It’s true that until we find ourselves, we really are just existing and not living and it really isn’t difficult, maybe a little of a deal however but be as it may, it is a ‘necessary evil’. Away from the hustling and bustling of life, and trust me, there’s a whole lot of that going on, we have to take a break, some time for a careful reflection all just to ensure that we aren’t being carried away by the ‘waves’. And when we finally get to understand ourselves, we could start understanding the world around us and maybe beyond…its an inward-outward thing. There’s one thing however, we should take care not to be too preoccupied with ourselves so much so that we neglect every other thing and person…there should be a measure to it.
This was meant to come off as a poem so I’ll try some lines here
Introspection
Our lives spring deeper than what is seen
Not so clear like a stained glass screen
Our minds an endless charade of acts
Acts we barely understand its facts
To reach deep is much of an endeavor
Fearless, matchless, outright fervor
And when we truly find who we are
Our lives like flowers would spring forth
