Yesterday I kissed a boy
It was quick, it was brief, it was thoughtless
I never would have let my guards down
Never,
But this boy, he didn’t even ask for my permission, like a gentleman should
He just went ahead and did it anyway
I had built strong walls all around me
Walls that none could penetrate or so I thought
Strong and tall and defensive walls
But it all broke down yesterday,
Not one pebble was left over another
It was in the busy subway
He brushed passed quickly
And in that brief moment of time
Fleeting and thoughtless
My soul kissed a boy who walked away just in time
Yesterday I kissed a boy
And today the thought still lingers
Tomorrow I hope to the highest heavens not to remember
This boy who had his soul kiss mine.
