Autumn

We sat on the porch

Both of us

Hands clasped between our knees

We didn’t – couldn’t speak

For one straight hour, we did nothing but stare ahead

At the wind ruffling through the trees

Right ahead

At the bird gawking at the sky

We both watched and listened

As the wind brought up the autumn leaves in spirals

Just the same way our lives were unwinding in spirals

Round and round

We both knew it in our hearts

It wouldn’t be long anymore

The winds would settle

And the leaves would fall

And time would stop

And our lives would end.

Nice one.. Though I don’t really understand the ‘and our lives would end’ part

      Thank you Yele 🙂
🙂 well it could be read differently but I guess it signifies the inescapable and certain end of all things…every thing created has an end, like the autumn leaves fall to the ground and wither off, the human life also has a definite end.

“Just the same way our lives were unwinding in spirals

Round and round”…Seems like you’ve read a thing or two on DNA replication?

Awwww… Well, I guess I thought in that direction because “unwinding” & “spiral” are two words that are very key and can’t be omitted when explaining the process of DNA replication. ☺
